John McElhenney and Blue Cartoon | PRESS RELEASE

BUZZIE signs 2nd production deal with Ron Flynt of 20/20.

John McElhenney is the guitarist/singer/songwriter behind Buzzie, a rock/pop band with an emphasis on the rock side of things. After three years as the vocalist and contributing songwriter for Blue Cartoon, this is John's second solo album. The band members that make up the rest of Buzzie are Cotton Mather's Dana Myzer (drums) and Cotton Mather's Whit Williams (lead guitar) along with a host of guest players including Michael Ramos, Ron Flynt, Scrappy Jud Newcomb and Mark Hallman.

Engineered and produced by Austin's own Mark Hallman, Buzzie's second release "Are You Feeling Anything Yet?" strikes into alt/pop/rock territory with sharp-edged guitar licks wrapped around warm vocals and timeless lyrics. Last years' "She's Gone" included on the early promo disc was distributed as part of the International Pop Overthrow CD released by DelFi Records and showcases both John's writing and vocals.

Buzzie is currently working at Jumping Dog Studios in Austin to follow up with a third CD "Fire Burns" that is set for release in 2007. As Blue Cartoon's frontman, John's writing and performing credentials have been validated by the success of the first 2 Blue Cartoon CD's (Blue Cartoon 1998 and Downtown Shangri-La 1999 which remained on Not Lame Recording's best seller list for several years. The continual interest in John's work brings an exciting buzz to this wonderful powerpop CD.

Buzzie will be performing songs in Austin in the coming months. Buzzie plans a one month promotion, performance and radio tour of Texas and the West Coast, using NEMO and the International Pop Overthrow festivals as the new bands' introduction to the dedicated pop market.
